Crazy Long Time, with Dog Parks

Well, it has been a crazy long time since I have bothered writing here. Got rid of the vBulletin forum since nobody was using it. Also, with a real job doing drupal stuff, I don't have a lot of time to promote this crazy idea anymore.

Also, my wife has been getting me to make a Dog Park site for her. So that is eating up most of my time. Oh well. Hoping that people in Santa Cruz like Dog Parks. Or even in Houston.

Been a while

Wow, been a while since I posted much here at all. I have been working hard on some contract work, and I have successfully interviewed for a new position, specifically doing Drupal website development. A major step from the less interesting job that was part documentation control, part internal website development for a semiconduct equipment company.

Skejo.com giving back to Drupal

Skejo.com is glad to have provided back a simple new module that removes older revisions of articles, which can combat database bloat and relieves the editors or small repetitive tasks.

The Revision Deletion module has been officially given back to the Drupal.org community and will continued to be maintained by myself of other Skejo.com supporters. More support will be given at my tech Blog, Tech-Wanderings.

Tech-Wanderings Blog

I have created a new site, www.Tech-Wanderings.com, that is built on the new Drupal 5.0 Beta source code. Since it is a personal site, I am not worried about using the beta code. That site will be a more personal represetation of who I am and what I am doing. More broadly than what I might add here at Skejo.com, though there will be lots of intersection.

Planning New Drupal Module

I am planning on writing and contributing my first Drupal module in short order. Since I am going to make it for Skejo.com anyway, I might as well offer it to the community. It will be a module that will automatically mass delete old revisions of nodes to avoid database clutter. It would takes 3 to 5 clicks a revision to delete old stuff using the hooks that are in place now, but with what I have outlined, you can set this module to delete node revisions that are older that 'x' weeks or months (of course never deleting the current node revision).

Drupal Chatroom Module

Well, I hunkered down to start developing a website for clans on BaboViolent 2 and came up with this after less than an hour. Not bad... it's a new (hopefully) default theme for Drupal 5.0! The site uses the already upgraded Organic Groups module to run the various clans. Alas and alack, they decided to go with a custom solution after all... but it was a lot of fun, and I'm still going to develop a chat site for them.

New vbDrupal section opened

I have created a new vbDrupal sub-domain to capture all the vbDrupal articles that I and others will be submitting. This will help with people searching for content and for categorizing and configuring a subsite that is dedicated to vbDrupal. I will probably be opening a Drupal sub-site shortly as well.
